SEASON(ed) GREETINGS !
I hope everyone has had a good Christmas holiday as we look forward to the New Years's holiday.

A great time of year here in the Dark Forest: winter has settled in with six inches of snow on the ground and dropping temperatures (-15 one morning last week.)

Our Glenwood No. 408E wood cookstove is actively keeping the kitchen toasty, as well as a few pieces of cast iron cookware, kept at the ready in its oven. The skillets get daily use and then there are specials like a root vegetable chowder that simmered in a dutch oven for several hours, paired with a skillet cornbread.

Thanks to all for a good year of information and entertainment and I'm looking forward to another year of the same.

Holy moly!! That's a beautiful stove and a beautiful collection of cast iron!

I humbly bow in your general direction.

Well, thank you.
I bought the stove from a then-defunct Grange in the early 80's, took it completely apart and rebuilt it. It's seen constant cold-weather service since then. It's a little loaded with CI, as this picture is part of a Facebook page we've started for my restoration business. It generally just has a tea kettle (point of use, instant hot water supply) and maybe a skillet off to the side.

I really should have a Wood & Bishop ("Clarion") or Noyes & Nutter ("Kineo") stove, as they were both made in the nearby city of Bangor. I have several of their cookware pieces. The Glenwood was made by the Weir Stove Co of Taunton, Mass.
