We found this pretty cheap at a shop this weekend and figured we would clean it up for the fun of it. The only identifier is the D.O 52 on the bottom. It had some rust and a weird coating of something on it, the E-tank got most of it off, it is now soaking in the lye tank for the next few days until I get a chance to work on it again. I don't find anything in an online search other than some guy trying to pass an identical one off as a rare early 1800's spider, which it obviously is not. Was this just some novelty item from one of those goofy import catalogs? I should add that it is small. I didn't measure it, but it's maybe 5" across or so.
