Solid Nickel Griswold 00 Ashtray ?

I recently purchased a Griswold 00 570A ash tray that I thought was nickel plated. I put a magnet to it and it is NOT magnetic! Does anyone have any information about this ? Is it a reproduction, a prototype? or just a fake. It is heavy, and smooth all over, and is high quality. Not aluminium.
I attempted to post a pic, but do not know how to resize.

there are several variations listed in the blue book for the #570 ash tray with match holder... but all of them appear to be un plated iron... no listings for any plated or aluminum variations.
