some pics from the dinkys auction this weekend.

It's probably good for my credit card that I cannot be there. :)
there were some 'high end' pieces that brought big bucks, but there were a lot of pieces that sold for pretty decent prices also. there was just about a whole set of pie logo wagners, wapak indian medalions, and Favorite smileys... griswold dutch ovens 6 - 12, several gf filley gems...

Thanks for posting the pics! I wish I could go to something like that, but I never hear about any in PA thats fairly close. Awesome pics!

I live less than an hour from Dinky’s and didn’t know it was going on 😫😫.
they had another cast iron only auction back at the end of october and they announced this sale then. I've been to several auctions at dinkys and didn't receive any notification in the mail until the day before the sale on friday. so if I didn't know about before that it would have been pretty difficult to make arrangements to attend. especially that first day on friday.

I'm new at CI collecting and am still learning. With that in mind, can someone explain picture # 7, the Griswold oval 1013. It has a handle that I have in my limited experience come to identify as a BSR handle. Please assist in my education.

There were apparently no trademarks issued for shapes of handles, unless perhaps a novel design performed some unique function. The shape we have come to recognize as being a "BSR handle" is really only useful in the context of identifying 20th-century unmarked pans, and can occasionally even be secondary to other characteristics like a heat ring or the placement and style of size markings.

Im loving the pic of the Wapaks! And that #12 DO.....pretty rare id say.
if I recall correctly the griswold 12 DO sold for 1,400. The wapaks all sold pretty high, like they always do, I think the 4 was over $1k. but there were two #11 DO's one was a little rough with some pitting on the inside... I think it sold for like $450 and the nicer one sold for around $650. there were lots of trivets at this auction also... the plated ones sold for much less than the plain iron ones... I think I got a #10 plated DO trivet for $60.

A bit above my price range except maybe for the trivet.

At the first auction I got a fully marked Victor #7 and a "two notch" Lodge #8 chicken fryer with lid. (The notch at 3 o'clock is missing). A bit upset that the Victor turned out to be spinner, but happy with the Lodge since I wanted one for cooking, and got it for $15. At the second auction I got a #8 Griswold plated trivet. Both auctions were over the internet and I thought the shipping on the two pans and lid was reasonable. They made up for it on the trivet.

I thought most prices were pretty decent, but some of the really rare stuff in terrible condition went for crazy money.

For those who commented that they weren't aware of the auction, might I suggest using Invaluable. I registered with them (for free) and now have access to a calendar that lists hundreds of auctions. I registered as a bidder at the Dinky's auction, and bid online for a few pieces, but it seemed like everything I wanted was in demand by everyone else. I think I bid on almost every G.F. Filley pan they had, and came away with nothing. In retrospect, I wish I had pushed it and bid just a little more. I also bid on some Sidney Hollow Ware pieces with the same result.
