T. Eaton Housewares

While reading on the "Canadian cast iron" portion of this site I read this about T. Eaton cast iron housewares .

" T. Eaton Co. - , (-)

Eaton's was a department store chain who sold various hollowware with their name on it. Markings indicate it was outsourced from foundries like Smart's."

I have both a T. Eaton's #9 Dutch oven and a Smart's Brockville #9 Dutch oven and they ARE both exactly the same .

Here is what I'm really interested in though . I have had two T. Eaton #8 skillets and still have one . I have also owned several small logo Griswold #8 skillets and they also seem exactly the same in size , thickness , quality , handle style , handle hole and the font used for the skillet size that is marked on the same place on the handle of both skillets .

I have never seen any Canadian skillet that looked anything like the T. Eaton #8's . So could Griswold have been making skillets for T. Eaton the same way they did for some other department stores ?

I'm surprised nobody has picked up on this. I don't know, but based on what you said I'd guess it was very likely. RobM might know if he picks up on this post. It seems few foundries were able to match the quality of Griswold CI.
