A number of you helped me figure out how to clean three old CI Skillets. Dan, Jeff, Eric and Kyle you helped me a lot. I hope I didn't leave anyone out that helped. I used a lye bath to get the old gunk off which was really a piece of cake to execute, even with just one operable arm. They also went back into a vinegar bath for the little bit of rust that remained and then I performed three rounds of initial seasoning per the instructions on this forum. I thought that the seasoning Process was awesome and also a piece of cake to execute.
Here are pictures of the final result. The two large skillets are #8s, an unmarked three notch lodge and a Wagner. The small skillet is a #3 unmarked Wagner. They all date to the 1940s or 1950s.
Now it will be bacon and eggs for breakfast and corn bread for dinner!!!
Thanks again for the help.
