Just got home from a nice country farm auction and was fortunate enough to pick up 11 good skillets. Top row to bottom. left to right, they are:

#8 Unmarked Wagner Chicken Fryer
#7 Arc Logo "WAGNER"
#7 "ERIE" pre-Griswold
#8 Piqua Favorite Ware
#3 ??? I think Vollrath
#3 ??? same as above
#5 BSR
#6 Wagner Ware 1056B
WIR Co Griddle
#10 Griswold Iron Mountain
#9 Piqua Favorite Ware

Everything for $110. Not my best buy, but I'm very pleased.

I have the #7 ERIE in my e-tank right now. Can't wait to see how it comes out. these pans had a lot of crud built up on the bottoms.

Thanks Bonnie, it's hard to know how prices will go at an auction. I probably could have gambled and done a little better, but several of these skillets are ones I don't see often, if ever. It turned out there were no other cast iron enthusiasts at this particular auction, so I did fairly well.

I haven't found a new piece of ci in almost a month. I've been looking but there is none to be had around here(oh I did see a real crappy looking Taiwan pan). I even tried an antique store today that usually has one or two good Wagners but none today.

David, it's not always that good for me either. I can go long stretches without finding anything that I consider a "good deal". I actually have friends and family keeping an eye open for me at yard sales and flea markets. The problem with having other people looking is that you have to set pretty low spending limits since they don't normally have any idea what things are worth.

Went out hunting this weekend. Granted it was only one flea market, but I only found an almost new unmarked Wagner No. 8 for $8 And the holiest of holy grails!!!! A No. 3 Wagner 1891 "Original" with full seasoning instructions printed on the bottom!! for $2. :icon_rofl: My first "1891".

I really wish I lived further East..... :(
