I got this today. Painted gold. About 3" high, 6" with handle up. Wagner Ware Sidney O on bottom with what looks like a 'B'.
NO LID!! (Grrrrrrrrrrr!)
If it's genuine, anyone know where I can find a lid?
I am expecting an "impossible" reply.

It's genuine. If lye won't take off the paint, electro will clean it. Finding a lid will be a matter of luck.

As always, thanks Doug for your expertise.
Don't have a lye bath or elec tank. If I keep collecting I may have to set one or the other up, but my wife will murder me. I guess I can always do the easy off in a bag. Or is that a bad idea?

Oven cleaner in a bag is essentially the same thing as a lye tank.

True, Dan.
My main question now is: How the heck do you lose the lid? It's not like it falls off. It would take some work to remove it. And why would you?
I guess that's two questions.
C'est la vie.

Most likely broken off. The attachment point can be easily stressed when the lid is open 180* and bent downward.

1. Open lid on burner. Needs more water.
2. Pick up kettle with bare hand.
3. Burn hand and drop kettle on floor.
4. Say four letter word. Say it at least 2 more times. (I do 4 times.)

Yes, coil handles can get hot.

Hit a local junk shop today. They have a 6Q Griswold kettle and a Magnalite kettle. Both overpriced and in terrible shape.
Ah, the internet giveth and it taketh away...

And Hilditch, thanks for the laugh.
