I just got a Tramontina 6.5qt. Dutch Oven today for free. I have zero experience with this brand other than its made in China. I have been looking it up on here and online, and it seems to be a good pan for the price! Its dark green, I like it. Im going to use it for sauces, Pinto beans, chili, ect. I was just wondering if its worth a spot in my rotation of "user" CI? Sorry, I am new here.

Free is free so you have a whole world of experimenting to do without the outlay of an expense that most cast iron users/collectors would not invest in (Chinese cast iron).
The Chinese civilization has been around for a "long" time and probably cooked in cast iron long before others. Not sure that they ever did take pride in producing quality cast iron for cooking in/with. The modern Chinese are interested in making money and the cheaper they can produce something and sale for a profit the more they will do so.
The piece you have will certainly cook most of the dishes you have proposed without any issues. It may be difficult to season your piece and maintain such seasoning as compared to the vintage cookware discussed mostly on this site.
Good luck and hope for the best....

From what I can tell this will not appear on any collectors want list. Amazon reviews are good. Quality is 50/50 and the interior should not need any seasoning being ceramic. As MD said the price was right so why wouldn’t you use it?

If not abused, it should perform and hold up as well as similarly treated Le Creuset. Seasoning is not required or recommended. I do like my Le Creuset, though, but I get "second choice" from the LC store at the outlet mall when it's on sale or from the close-out table at Williams-Sonoma. Can't be picky about color, but...

Thank you all for the replies. I was thinking along the same lines, but to hear it from you all just confirms what I thought. So I will use my DO and be happy that it was free, but still be on the look out for older ones too!
