Trouble posting photos

Sorry all, I've run out of fixes. I can't make flickr take my photos at all, and I have been using photobucket. But all I can do is insert the link in the body of the post. Anytime I try to upload a photo, it tells me that it's invalid. Anyone know what I am doing wrong?

Photos as attachments uploaded to this server are limited both as to dimensions and filesize. As per the Photo Posting sticky, uploading to the server is the least preferred option. If you choose to do it that way, try making the images smaller first.

In Photobucket, upload your image and then select it. This should take you to the picture with 4 boxes of links to the right hand side. Use the bottom box link and copy it into your post and that should put your picture inside your post with no link.

To clarify, use the link marked "Direct". Not email, IMG, or HTML from Photobucket.

Then (my preference, at least) use the RIMG tag (to the immediate left of the eBay tag) to post it. That way people will see a clickable thumbnail.

Thanks Dan. I didn't know the thumbnail trick. But on the photobucket picture, I do use the IMG link and put it inside the post. I haven't tried the Direct link.

First I make the image smaller (3 1/2" wide max and 200 ppi), upload to photo bucket, open & copy the IMG link. I just paste the IMG tag into the body of the post & preview to make sure it worked. It has, every time.

The IMG option gives you a BBCode image tag. That is exactly what you get when you use the "Insert Image" tool:

Code:
[ IMG]http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/ac39/trolltaker/20151121_201628.jpg~original[./IMG]

But if you pasted Photobucket's IMG tag into the Insert Image tool, you would get redundant "IMG" tags.

Therefore, either use Photobucket's IMG option and paste it directly into your post without using the toolbar (which won't give you the thumbnail) or use Photobucket's "Direct" option that can be pasted into either the "Insert Image" or "Wrap RIMG Tags" tool.
