Two different maladies, two different results.

I have been busy lately, several starter sets of skillets have been put together from recent finds. Today I electrolized the BSR #3 and what appears to be a unnamed Wagner #3, but for the 3 on the handle there is nary a mark on it. The BSR was coated with carbon and old seasoning, with the cooking surface being especially stubborn. The other was coated with rust, to where it looks like thick hard layers in places. The electro removed that surprisingly quickly.

The BSR is looking good, smooth as silk. The unnamed is except for two small areas of rust pitting, one under each pour spout along the side, however it will still make a fine cooker and they were both thrown in for free when I bought a DO and a double griddle.

The moral of the story is that just as Han Solo is removed from the carbonite intact, very often a new skillet is revealed when freed from the same. Although I have often cleaned rusty pieces and there was no pitting, that risk always exists.
