Ultrasonic Cleaning

Has anyone ever tried cleaning their cast iron in a clean (new or fresh) ultrasonic cleaner? I have been mulling it over, and a couple of Google searches have not yielded a lot other than cast iron can be cleaned in an ultrasonic when using an alkaline (basic) surfectant.

Anybody actually tried this? Results good or bad?

I havent cleaned any of my CI in an ultrasonic but I used to clean old tools in one, and I use a smaller one now for my fountain pens. Based on my experience with the tools, I'd say skip it. Electrolysis works much faster and cost far less (cleaners get expensive once you get up to the size you would need for skillets).

What ultrasonic cleaners really excel at over methods is getting way down in the deepest nooks and crannies, so it wont really be worth it unless youre cleaning something with a lot of inaccessible parts (e.g. old watches).
