I've been collecting antique Japanese pottery for years, and when I saw that mark, the questioned that flashed through my mind was "A mon on a skillet?!?" I'd wager it's Japanese, too. ;-) If you get the chance and the price is right, I'd pick it up and here's why I would: It's because I've been searching for similar items as well as English ones, and the pickings are pretty slim.

What do that mean?Is a copy?is their own Wagner version?wagner japawere?
I seen some skillets with Japanese worlds, old skillets, very well made,

When I started out looking for cast iron at thrift stores I read that the Asian stuff wasn't collectible. I saw a pan made in Japan and thought that it was really well made but passed on it. I regret to this day! It was smooth, light weight, and the sides were sloped like a chefs skillet and not as high as the normal height. I have only seen one more Japan made skillet since and it was this weekend and it was a smaller skillet and they wanted more than I am willing to pay. But I personally no longer put Japanese cast iron in the same category as China-Taiwan. Vintage Japanese butcher knives and kitchen utensils like spatulas are decent quality also!
