HI! I found this pan at an antique store today. The seller had it originally marked at $49 and now has it marked down to $39; I left an offer for $25. I am hoping to get some info on how to ID this pan and determine a value. I don't want to pay too high but also want to be fair.

My understanding is that with the gate mark that it is probably mfg'd in the 1800s. Looking for info on how to ID the pan and determine a value. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions for me?

Thanks, in advance, for your help! :-)

Bottom gate marks are also the hallmark of what are known as recasts. The design on this pan is very late 1800s - early-to-mid-1900s, past the point where the major makers were bottom gating skillets. A recast is a piece for which someone used an actual pan as a pattern to create a mold and cast a copy, most frequently seen using the older (and far simpler) bottom gating technology. I would save the money on this one for something nicer (and more authentic).
