Unusual item ID

I'm trying to help my uncle ID a piece he recently dug up on his farm near Lincoln, NE. He's just looking to determine what this item is and what it would be used for.
There's a flat surface with small feet on one side and two slots on the other. It measures approximately 5 7/8" long, 2 3/4" wide, and 1 7/8" tall.
If there's a better place to ask a question like this, I'd be grateful if you could point me in the right direction.
