Vacation story

Just wanted to share my vacation story. Last week I spent a week in Tennessee on vacation. There where antique shops everywhere I looked. Finally on the day we where leaving I got time to stop at a couple shops. I have been looking for a large DO WOW did I find it!!!!! There in a back room I saw it across the room a Beautiful large pot with a lid as I approached it I saw it was a Griswold. Now my heart starts to race a little then I saw the price tag it was then I think my heart stopped a moment it was a Griswold #13 in perfect condition $5,500 firm. I forgot to take a picture I was in shock. I did find a #9 Griswold skillet small logo for $35 that is in great condition. I currently have it in the E Tank I will post a picture later. The guy in the shop told me they didn't make very many #13 because of superstition with the #13 is this true? Or had he been sipping too much shine?

You know, they say the same thing about Ball Mason jars. That mold #13 is rarer because of superstition of the number. If you go to eBay, you'll find lots of these rare jars :D

I would say that not many were made due to size and retail costs more than the number issue.

The large size, cost and possible limited storage at the time maybe played a factor in rare today.

The superstition of the number 13 back in the day also is a good theory. My mom told me once she remembers as a little girl one of her grandfathers absolutely would not sit down to a meal with 13 people at the table.
