Very lucky!

I bid the minimum bid on an online auction site and there were no other bids. I'm a sucker for combo parts / skillet lids and this one appeared to have an unmarked Wagner lid and a #5 BSR. Both fairly cruddy, I planned to restore and sell the small skillet to lessen my cost of the lid. When I opened the box today, I discovered two suprises! The Wagner has a small block Griswold logo ghost mark and what I thought was a BSR is actually my very first hamburger logo Martin! $22 including shipping!

wagner did made some of those skillet griddles with the small griswold logo and their size identification below it... I suppose at some point they removed the griswold logo from the pattern.

The shallow skillet (not lid) was made in the Ohio Wagner plant from a Wagner unmarked pattern with a hastily crafted Griswold trademark.

You know, I saw that tab and immediately assumed lid. Guess it's just an assist tab because the griddle is 11 1/4 inches. That's ok, I like ghost marks too!

There would have been no reason to add a Griswold TM to a pattern for an unmarked piece then cover it up. It will either become more distinct once the pan is stripped, or, if not, the pan may have a belly and it was worn as a result. The post-acquisition Griswold TMs are very shallowly inscribed to begin with.

I hope so!
