Victor #8 surface?

Greetings. I'm new to the forum and collecting. I only have a handful of pieces and recently added this Victor purchased off Ebay. After receiving it my first impression was that it had been spray painted with silver/gray paint. After running it through the oven cleaning and scrubbing it with 000 steel wool, it's stilll a grayish/whitish color. Unlike any of the other pans I have cleaned. I will attempt to attach some pics. The few with the fellow holding outside is the Ebay listing. The rest are mine after cleaning. Any thoughts, suggestions or advice would be appreciated. You folks are the pros. Is this thing safe to cook with? Look's like I can only add three pics. Hope this is enough.

After looking at your skillet and pics of some of the other pieces the seller has sold particularly the Griswold muffin pan my opinion is that it has been sandblasted. It will be safe to cook in but might be difficult to season to a slick finish or obtain a dark finish even after cooking in it for a while.

Had never thought of that. Thanks. Ebay has been a hit and miss for me lately. Hard to see what your getting sometimes.
