Vinegar Bath

I think it's been well established here that a Lye tank can almost go forever, or at least a long time before it's strength is diminished. What about a Vinegar bath? How long can that go before it is no longer effective? I have a tub that I have put 10 or so pans in. It has started to turn a little brown/black.

Hard to say since you're really only leaving pieces in for a half hour at a time (or you should be). Every piece treated is a little different so you probably won't be able to gauge by how many 30 minute soak/scrub cycles a piece requires. It is a chemical reaction, so its efficacy should diminish with use. Fortunately, vinegar is cheap, and you are cutting it 50/50 with water (or you should be).
