Waffle iron handle cleaning question...

I've got this Griswold No. 8 waffle iron that I have cleaned and stripped. I have read that the handles are "Alaskan steel coil," and was wondering if they needed to be seasoned along with the cast iron or not? There's a picture of a 'clows' griswold iron on eBay that has bright, shiny handles, and the contrast against the black iron looks really nice IMO.

Thanks,
Ian

Those handles don't look to be in too bad of shape. If they were rusty, you would want to put some kind of oil on them to keep them from rusting again. Doesn't look like you'll really need to, though.

Yeah, there wasn't much rust on them to begin with...I'll just keep them oiled and not worry about seasoning.

Does the pin that goes through the handle unscrew?

I've seen a few of these and always wondered. I'm not much on waffles, but I'd like to eventually have 1 or 2 in my collection.

I just recently picked up a 151N pattern set of WI paddles with the Alaskan Coil handles. WEre those types originally chromed? Mine look like they had some sort of plating on them at one time
