Waffle iron ID

Local place has this waffle iron. I like the pattern inside.

Somewhere I read that the first cast iron waffle irons were made in France and shipped to other countries including the U.S. This one’s design fits. The hinge is pre 1900.

So my call is a French import circa 1880.

There was a company called Florence Manufacturing Co. out of Florence, Mass that produced waffle irons with the Fleur de lis and cross pattern.

I believe the Florence Machine Co. used an original from France to make a pattern with their name on the irons.

like you, I really liked the interior pattern... have not made any waffles with it yet... although it is cleaned up and seasoned now.
