I intended to just show the interior pattern for the first clue... I didn't think anyone would notice the hinge design from the first pic, other than maybe that it wasn't a typical ball design.

I'm curious about the stubbly little wooden handles... they appear to have been part of the 1880 patent, at least the way they were mounted and secured... so again these appear to be 'original'. I think it will clean up really well... I know it looks a bit rough in the pics but there is very little rust, mostly just accumulated 'crud and gunk'.
