Wagner Deep Skillet AKA Chicken Fryer

I'm in Florida right now on Vacation and have been going to the local Flea Markets.
I got a Wagner Sidney O #8 Deep Skillet AKA Chicken Fryer.
It's a 1088 but after the number is a letter F.
My thinking is that the F is the Pattern Number which would make it a older pan.
The pan is very nice and very flat and after cleaning should be great on any stove.

So my question would be how old is this pan?????

This is the second Chicken Fryer I have picked up so far.
The other Fryer is also very flat.

Thanks for any information on this pan.

1088 is the catalog number. The F is the working pattern identifier. There is no correlation between it and age or date of manufacture of the pan. Since the pan does have a catalog number, however, it means it was made 1924 or later.

Doug,
Thank You for this information.
I was thinking the Patterns would be A,B,C.......if the patterns were made In House.
But they may have had different suppliers of Patterns over the years.
So the letter as you said does not add any information to it's Date Of Birth.

I forgot to add that the pan has no Heat Ring.

A pattern maker would have created a master pattern from which several working patterns would be created in aluminum. If, for example, seven working patterns were necessary to fulfill the volume of production required for a particular pan, they might be lettered A thru F, plus one with no letter. If additional demand required more working patterns, they would be lettered G thru whatever necessary. Of course, pans would still continue to be cast using patterns no letter thru F, so pans made from that first set of working patterns would not necessarily be older than those made from the additional group of patterns.

Your pan was likely produced 1935 to 1959. By the font used for the c/n and letter, probably later in that time frame.

Thanks Doug.
I did work in a Pattern Shop in 1972 and did remember some of the details after you pointed them out.
The pan will be for my Daughter and I was trying to have some information on the pan for her.

I did add a few more photo's
