I got this from my parents. I believe its from 1922-1959. Im trying to pin down a more certain date period. I am slowly removing the years of rust from not being used.

That is a older style lid. If there are no catalog numbers inscribed on it, it's pre-1924.

The only thing that I can make out is a #5 and PATENT APPLIED FOR down below the 5 on the lower edge.

Covers like that would eventually reference patents dated 1917, 1920, 1921, and 1922. The stylized logo it has started in use 1920-1922.
