Seaking info on this piece I bought at a flea market yesterday. It a "Wagner" 8 kettle. I can't find anything exactly like it. I have seen ones with legs, but not a flat bottomed one without legs. It's hard to see but theWagner logo is in quotation marks.

It's called a flat bottom bulged pot, and dates are given as 1890s-1920s. If the date range is correct, this example would likely have been earlier in that timeframe. It was produced long enough to have been assigned a catalog number in the mid to late 1920s. The bail would have originally had a wood handle.

Would it have had a lid ?

Catalogs don't show or mention lids. The rim design implies they were not intended for covered use. If one was required, a generic tin lid was likely used.

I have never sold a piece of cast iron. I enjoy using them and restoring them too much. I'm not a serious collector and have given many pieces away. This piece will stay with me until one of my sons can inherit. But I am curious, do you know the approximate value of this piece?
Thanks,
Rob
