Wagner Ware Glass Lids with Wagner Ware Embossed

Re: Wagner Ware Glass Lids with Wagner Ware Embosed

I unable to see any pictures. I have been looking for real glass lids for a long time, but have never once found even one of them. I use mismatched glass lids with my cast iron skillets all the time, and have never had one ever break on me.

Hi Alan,
I dug this up for you from an older post.
The ones with Wagner Ware in an oval are from the 1950s; the unmarked ones, the 1960s. The only one I have has a hollow in the handle, about 1/2" deep, and the only marking is "WAGNER C-8" at the very rim, outside the retaining ring.
Have a great day,
Kyle

I have several but they are marked on the rim only. Some say Wagner C-8 (or whatever size) and others just C-8 (or lid size). The C is for C-thru lid as Wagner marketed them. My best understanding is they were made for Wagner by PYREX which should then be borasilicate glass and ovenproof. Newer soda-lime glass is also ovenproof but the Wagner lids were older material (and better IMHO). You should be fine using them without concern. Anyone with better information please correct me.

Thrift shops. Generally sitting in the lid bin. Just have to look and get lucky. Pretty much a couple bucks.
