I went to an estate sale and was excited to see a Lodfe 3-notch #8 Chicken Fryer with lid for $20. Unfortunately the lid was welded onto the pan (I guess for display purposes only). Is there ever a time when a piece would retain its value if the lid is welded to the pan/pot?
Actually welded, or maybe just stuck together with underbaked seasoning? Welding cast iron is not as simple as steel. Never seen Lodge display-only pieces.
I swear it looked welded and ground. Perhaps melted together? I was able to lift pan by lid. It was stuck on there tight if it were just under seasoned.
