Stopped at a roadside market the other day ...saw a nice size skillet ...flipped her over just could make out it was a smiley face favorite no 11 ... I was excited ..it was covered in burnt on grease ...I mean thick ...long story short got it partially cleaned and it has two cracks ...both on the side of the skillet ...is it worth getting it fixed professionally...since I really don't do wall hangers . What do u guys think???

If you are going to use it, get it fixed if that's what you want to do. As a collectable item, there is no value in it at all.

Something for you to read, as I am not endorsing anything.

I have had cast iron pieces repaired. We have used nickel rod with great success.
The piece needs to be heated to be welded.

Thanks for sharing that, endorsement or no. I didn't even know such a product existed...If I find a piece of junk that is cracked and cheap, I might experiment with this and see what happens.

Thanks Jeffery ...may give it a try ... It's a really nice skillet ...minus the cracks ...if I do I will post before and after pics

Don't forget option 3: just use it as is. It is very likely that the skillet has been cracked for decades and that it could be used for decades more without any problems.
I'm curious what's in that solder product that Jeffrey R. posted?
