What happened here?

I saw this on ebay and it has me wondering where is the Griswold? It almost looks as if someone took a grinder to this skillet? The deep scratches on the bottom are strange.

I am continually amused by the creativity of eBay sellers.

"Excellent clean condition as shown. No mark with "Griswold" on this pan."

Like that's reason to pay $50 plus shipping on a ruined skillet.

The handle looks too clean to be a recast, so have to assume the TM and most of the bottom have been ground down for whatever unfathomable reason. The lightness of the surrounding markings bears that out also.
