What is this E C SIMMONS cast iron name plate for ?

I can't seem to imagine it being a cookware item. Interesting that I took a photo (of the entire backside) with Google Lens and the AI overview said, "The item appears to be a cast iron nameplate, possibly from an old piece of machinery or equipment. Based on similar items found online, it could be a nameplate from an E.C. Simmons tool or a similar vintage item." (Insert Twilight Zone theme music here.)

In the world of vintage cast iron cookware, Simmons Hardware is kind of vintage CI adjacent; mostly we only see their Keen Kutter food choppers and waffle irons (probably outsourced from another maker).

Thank you for checking it out. To me it seams like the frame of something like a calendar or license plate topper. Because of the hole beside the embossed letters NO.
