Wobble/flatness

I recently bought several pieces on eBay. The auctions stated the pieces were flat with no wobble. Several emails before bidding, seller stated they were flat. I get them here to find the following:

Unmarked Wagner #8 Chicken Fryer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FfvOJUe3Nqk
Unmarked Wagner #6 Skillet : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Iy4-Wy_peU
Unmarked Wagner #12 Skillet: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XjfjUY1kgr4

... am I wrong to state they most certainly are not flat, or am I being too picky. The sellers have all but called me a liar while refusing to check out the videos I made trying to show them what I'm seeing.

Please let me know your opinions. Thanks

Assuming your counter is truly flat I'd be mad as heck about the first two if I were you. Since I've never seen a #12 Wagner that didn't wobble I wouldn't get too uptight about the third one though.

They look like rockers to me unless your counter is not level. I take it there was a no return notice on e bay.

Not as described. Full money back from PayPal and seller has to pay for return shipping if he wants to buy his spinners back. No compromise.

For once I agree with Hilditch. Send it all back at the sellers expense.

My #12 doesn't not rock or spin.

Bryan,
Not sure what you have invested in the pieces referenced or what your intensions are (use, Sale, collect) so it makes a difference in your decision making. Since the seller didn't provide video when listed he could claim damage was done by you and not his fault....probably hard to prove either way.
I always look at the sellers track record and if it's least bit tarnished I avoid dealing with them unless it's a piece I want for restoring a similar piece or something I want to convert to for the grandkids or friends.
Assume you have the glass top stove, where by you will chase the skillet all over the stove.
I agree with both Hilditch & Jack but if things go south and you just want them for use take a grinder to them and obtain the flatness you desire and consider it a lesson well learned.
Good luck either way...

Regarding the #12 skillet - I paid $150 USD for it ($100 for skillet, $50 for shipping), I think I'm entitled to be a wee bit "uptight" about it, especially after having the seller confirm privately - two times - that it was indeed flat prior to bidding. Please, no comments regarding price - I'm well aware I over paid, and I would have been ok with that had the skillet been as described. I live in Canada, in the middle of nowhere and don't have the luxury of finding local deals on cast iron. I'm stuck buying on eBay while paying far too much for shipping.

Regarding my countertop - yes, it is flat. My Lodge skillets, which I purchased new, do not rock or spin at all.

The sellers had a 'no returns' policy, yet it still showed I'm covered by the eBay Money Back Guarantee policy. I've never done a return on eBay, I don't like the idea. What irritates me the most is the fact that the sellers still insist the pieces are flat, while refusing to view the video, and giving me lectures like: "All skillets with no heat ring will spin at some level. When the skillets are casted they have a radius on the bottom edge that never sit flat. I think I sold you a very nice skillet.".

Apparently 'eBay will have to step in to resolve' if the pieces are returned. For all I know, they're going to claim my accusations are false and simply state the pieces are flat so no refund - hence my making the video and having them confirm it was their pieces, which they can't very well do if they refuse to view the video.

Sorry for the long winded reply.

The sellers have a good track record. My original intentions were to complete the set for sentimental reasons and possible use, but that's up in the air now as this is a frustrating and expensive endeavour. Have you ever seen a seller provide a video to show the condition prior to selling ? Either way, thanks everyone, for giving your opinions.

Bryan, making a claim with eBay/PayPal is very easy. First open a case sending a note to the seller telling him you want a full refund. If possible keep all communications on eBay or you will need to copy eBay with emails. They will look at your videos and review all your correspondence with the seller from day one when you upgrade to a claim.

There is a 99% chance in this case they will find in your favor for a full refund including shipping. It is then up to the seller to provide you with a return shipping label if he requires the skillets back. If he doesn’t, but wants them back eBay will send you a UPS shipping label and subtract the cost from the sellers account.

Open the case and upgrade to a claim as soon as you can. eBay is on your side on this one. It is time to ignore the sellers BS.

^^^^What he said^^^^

It's a bit aggravating, but you will get your money back.

holly cow that chicken fryer Is beyond a little wobble. i would definitely be mad. most things on ebay are covered by an "ebay money back guarantee". I would open a case and be sure to leave negative feed back. who was the seller so I know to stay away?

Bryan....Really feeling your pain and frustration in this matter.
I' enclosing a link that has the seller's information that you will for sure have better results if you so choose to use. He's been active on eBay over 10 years and has an excellent rating. I have bought several pieces from him and have never been disappointed.
He's in Shelby, Mich. which isn't all that far from Canada and it says he ships world wide.
Here is a listing he currently has on eBay but you can view his other listings and maybe find the pieces you desire.

Sorry it happened to you. E bay has not been my friend so I do not bid anymore. I will go the slow way and pick up my iron in shops and on the road.

Sorry you are having a problem with the seller.
A completely different seller just refunded me the cost (shipping included) for a sidney griddle that wobbled. I wanted to return it to him, he said just keep it. Give it to someone without a glass cooktop. There are good sellers on ebay. I cancelled my initial return form for ebay which looked very simple to do.

I would also take a straight edge to the bottom of the pans and measure the warp. Just more info to fight the seller with. Or you could just play spin the pan.
