Sidney Timeline
1852 - Philip Smith learns iron molding in a Dayton, OH foundry.
1859 - Smith moves from Dayton to Sidney, where he and brother establish a foundry, making a variety of products.
1886 - P. Smith, Bro. & Co. production includes general hollow ware.
1888 - Demand for company's coal stoves exceeds foundry capacity, and stove works is moved to Marion, IN.
1888 - Sidney foundry is expanded to add hollow ware capacity, and the Sidney Hollow Ware Co. is established.
1897 - Hollow ware foundry sold to Sidney-based competitor Wagner for, as reported at the time, $40,000.
1903 - Smith buys the foundry back from Wagner, but apparently does not resume hollow ware production.
1907 - Smith retires due to health problems.
