I found a Griswold muffin pan recently. On the bottom is what I think is a model number, 948. Below the number are the letters U.S.N. Any help with determining what these letters mean would be appreciated, as I,am new to all of this. Thanks RickG.
The pan you purchased is the real thing. It was made for the U.S.Navy and it is variation No.15 for the No. 10, 948 Popover Pan. It has a rarity rating of 3 and per the Griswold Muffin Pan book it is priced at a $100-$125 value. It's a keeper. Good catch. Post a few pics if you can.
MDFraley, thank you for the information about my muffin pan. It was helpful and educational. May I trouble you to explain the "rarity rating system" you referenced in your previous reply? It is a scale of 1 - 10 or 1 - 100? Thanks in advance, RickG. (The Rookie).
