There is a patent listed on CIC here, still trying to figure out the tool. Is it mounted in some way or just used for flipping it...

There's bits and pieces online, but looks like the company operated in the last 3/4 of 1800's.

I think it's a detachable handle that slides over the little tab that sticks out from the hinge. It would have been shaped like an F on the end.

I read the patent info and somehow once attached the handle clamps down on the tab.
