Cleaning The Ultimate Easy Fast Way

Hello. I have had luck cleaning very dirty, rusty, cruddy skillets in the past by running them through the cleaning cycle on my oven. It takes everything off (seasoning and rust) all the way down to the iron. Leaves only ash on the surface. I then give it a good scrub with soap and warm water, dry thoroughly with a paper towel, put on a low heat on the stove top and let it dry completely. About five minutes does the trick. After that I put a coat of bacon grease on the entire pan and put in a 350 oven for one hour. Turn off the oven, let it cool, you are done. You only really need to season it like this one time. after that you just use it and it will season itself.

A SCO works well on both iron and aluminum, but will damage wood or tempered steel bail handles, which may or may not be removable. It can also smell up the house if you can't open a window.
