Does Anyone Know What This is

A co-worker recently found two of these in a house that his son bought.
The house is approx. 158 years old, the last occupants were there 30 plus years and they said the ci items were left by the previous owners. Not sure if they have any markings. Thanks.

Looked at your other thread. They're drain strainers for like a roof drain or floor drain.
