One of several various "maker's marks" (as in maker of the pattern), usually simple graphic icons or a letter, and confined to the 2nd and 3rd series of Erie skillets.
It might be a pattern-maker's mark. They were found on some 2nd and 3rd series Erie skillets. Can't tell from the partial picture of the bottom. The star should be about 50% from the center of the bottom to the outside of the skillet "heading" to approx. 1:00. I think the star was used on #7 and #8 skillets.
I may be wrong, so will let those more experienced weigh in.
