Heart shaped waffle iron

I just picked up an Alfred Anderson waffle iron for $32 and need to know when it was made and did I pay to much. I am going to keep it, as it fits nicely with my Griswold #8 waffle iron. Its numbers are 981 and 999 with the base number being 975C. There are no cracks but it appears to have sulfur pitting in the center of the waffle irons.

Don't know when it was made, but you certainly didn't pay too much. The AA waffle irons were made by Griswold.

NIGHTMARE COLLECTING STORY

I acquired mine in the Mobile (AL) flee market on Schillinger Rd. About 15 or so years ago when my wife and I were really starting become interested in Cast Iron.

We were in a booth and she had picked up the piece and sit it back down and one of the wooden handles slipped out.

The shady dealer claimed she broke it and he had a sign on the stall saying "You break, you buy."

He could tell that we didn't know anything about the pieces, so he hooked us and basically threatened to call the cops if we didn't pay him the full asking price - $80. I didn't know at the time the handles slip in and out.

I was in my early 20's at the time and despite me telling him to call the cops and they could sort it out my wife (now standing there in tears) pretty much just paid him to get him to shut up.

This basically turned us off for more than a decade to collecting.
