I think there was some variation at some point between the dimensions of regular skillets and deep skillets and chicken fryers.. but I think griswold was pretty consistent on sizes. you could also probably find lids from other manufacturers that would fit 'well enough'... or even other griswold 'brands'... iron mountain, best made, victor (actually finding a victor lid might be harder than finding a griswold lid). Also you could probably use a dutch oven lid rather than an actual skillet lid (it would be the right size, but wouldn't have the little spout covers.) Including the glass lids that came on some dutch ovens (allowing you see what's going on inside there.)
I think finding a skillet lid is harder than find a do lid.my best recommendation is take the skillet to a goodwill store or other resale shop to match a glass lid for it,and Is cheaper.good luck hunting
I have recently learned... look for the glass lids with the small circular vents, and, stainless steel handles.... then oven temps are not a limiting factor.
