Question About E-Tanks

Another newbie question if I may. The illustration of the e-tank on the home page makes it appear that the electrodes from the charger are making their connections down in the water, especially the red one connecting to the sacrificial metal. My instinct would be to connect to a part where both pieces are sticking OUT of the water.
 
The drawing is meant to illustrate the circuit more than the operational nuances. Note further down:

In the long term, to keep your clamps away from corrosive moisture or being affected by the electrolytic process, you may opt to not connect your charger clamps directly to the piece, instead attaching them to the metal bracket or wire the piece is hung from.
