My grandfather made the best cornbread with a crunchy bottom and soft inside. Yum! I have tried to get that for years in my baking pans. I just recently made the cornbread in his #7 skillet and guess what? It was grandpa's cornbread! The memories.....
For more crunchiness, preheat the skillet with bacon grease in it till it starts to smoke, then pour in the batter. Be careful and do it slow. Dont worry about the side as the batter pushes some of the grease to the top during the pour
Nichole that looks so good. Don't be afraid to try other things in a skillet. I think the last 8or9 pies I did In a skillet as well as bread and there is many more I hadn't tried yet.
Nichole, it makes me happy to see you have reproduced your Grandpa's cornbread. It looks pretty as well as yummy!:icon_thumbsup: Satisfaction in the kitchen.
