I love cooking waffles in a CI waffle iron, but I find that, after cooking, there is sticky oil on some spots of my iron that is very difficult to remove (doesn't wash off with dawn soap and a scrubbie). Any suggestions on how to clean this off?
Sounds like the oil spots are partially polymerized. I think to remove them would require stripping the entire seasoning and starting over, probably not what you want to do. You could heat them up and bake until the oil polymerizes completely. The spots would still be there, but at least they wouldn't be sticky.
